We began our 2019-20 season saying a tearful goodbye to Easthampton and the Keystone Building, our home for the last two years. While it has been wonderful to have our own space for the first time, we have been given a tremendous opportunity to help our members and organization grow by accepting an invitation by the MSBDC (Massachusetts Small Business Development Center) to hold our meetings on their beautiful campus.
MSBDC is located at 1 Federal Street in the Scibelli Enterprise Center which is also home to SCORE, a valuable resource to businesses at all stage of development. Both MSBDC and SCORE provide FREE, confidential counseling and mentoring for small businesses in our area. The mission of WBOA is “to provide education and enlightenment to support the social and economic power of women in business and to promote entrepreneurship,” which aligns strongly with these two wonderful organizations.
We know change can be difficult. In fact, we’ve talked openly in our meetings about how the fear of change can impact a small business. The ability to “pivot” and to rethink our goals and directions is critical for both businesses and organizations to be able to thrive and grow moving forward. WBOA is looking forward to growing relationships with our new neighbors, sharing resources, and extending benefits to our members through this move to Springfield.
Our Breakfast Meetings are moving to the 2nd Thursday of every month beginning Sept. 12th, 7:45. Evening Workshops will be held the 4th Thursday of the month. Socials will continue to be part of our calendar throughout the year, and will include Member Socials, fun activities (like our Lady B trip on the CT River this summer), and meet-ups at local restaurants. These socials have NO agenda, just a great way to get to know each other on a personal level.
We hope to see you soon at MSBDC. Travel is easy – just straight up State Street and hang left at STCC, turn right into the secure, FREE parking lot at 1 Federal Street. When you enter the Enterprise Center you will be easily directed to our meeting space. The building is fully ADA accessible.
