The WBOA mid-year retreat was held on Sunday, May 17th. Thanks to all who were able to attend and share ideas, thoughts and visions for WBOA’s 2019-20 season.
WBOA is an all volunteer organization, which means we have no paid director to handle the day to day administration of the organization, ie. bookkeeping, grant writing, website and social media management, membership growth and retention, event and educational planning, development, communication with media outlets, and caring for our facility. These responsibilities have always been shared by our members.
This spring we faced a difficult transition due to the loss of two key members of our leadership team who wore many hats and were superb in their roles. This transition also coincided with our annual board nominations, making it the perfect time to take a step back and analyze how best to structure our leadership to 1) encourage newer members to participate in leadership roles, 2) continue our vision of providing transparency in our communication and 3) keep each other supported and accountable.
As a result of many lively discussions, members who attended the retreat felt that our committee structure needs revision. The proposal under consideration is a totally unique representation of supportive leadership that is unlike any other organization in the region.
More will be discussed at the upcoming board meeting on Wed. June 5th at 9:00AM at WBOA headquarters, but maybe the image used above will peak your interest. We hope you will join us as we embark on a wonderful new chapter for our organization.
